A direct descendant of the original support structures that appeared on the beach at Praia da Rocha in the 1960s, Salsada do Zé is now a restaurant where the bright, cheerful colours reflect the personality of the family who run it and who make up its entire team.
The Salsada do Zé Restaurant serves typical Algarve cuisine with a contemporary touch in an energetic, cheerful and welcoming ambience. Among the dishes you have to try are Zé’s special salt cod, the Algarve-style tuna steak, the cataplanas and the Algarve-style squid.
One of the specialities of this restaurant in Praia da Rocha is the “Manjar do Mar”, a wonderful, fresh and appetising selection of the best seafood. It has to be ordered 24 hours in advance to give Zé and Rosa time to buy in the best seafood in the region to make it for you.
When they are in season, you can savour snails while admiring the fantastic view over one of the Algarve’s prettiest beaches, Praia da Rocha.
Attentive to different preferences, the restaurant also serves dishes made with tofu and soya to ensure that every diner can find something they like on the menu.
The desserts are all home-made on the premises. The selection on any given day will depend on the mood and inspiration of the person who makes them. The most frequent desserts are Zé’s Swiss roll, made to an old recipe that challenges you to discover the main ingredient, and the original peanut mousse.
