The Pestana Alto Golf is located between the pretty seaside town of Alvor and Praia da Rocha.
The course was designed by legendary golf architect Sir Henry Cotton. With its sometimes fairly steep fairways and raised greens, it affords golfers a memorable experience.
Cotton used a classic figure-of-eight design that lets golfers pass the clubhouse at the end of each 9-hole sequence. The breeze from the sea can influence play in all directions and can be seen as an excellent strategic approach. This golf course provides golfers with an all-round experience, thanks to the fully-equipped clubhouse, cutting-edge driving range and golf academy.
Golfers have a tendency to underestimate the short par-3s on the second 9 holes. Immediately after the short 12th hole come three very different par-4 holes, before the course’s biggest challenge – the giant 16th hole.
The course’s excellent location, its proximity to the Portimão region’s beautiful beaches, many typical restaurants, hotels and bars, make the Pestana Alto Golf a very popular course.
