The Safari Restaurant opened in
1976 in a villa right on the cliff in Praia da Rocha. The Coutinho
family have since been turning it into a benchmark in cuisine with an overseas
influence.
At this restaurant in Praia da Rocha,
you really get a sense of Africa, from the menu and service to the décor. The
various spaces feature details that make you feel as though you are travelling
through African landscapes.
The specialities on offer at the Safari
Restaurant combine traditional Portuguese flavours with Afro-Asian cuisine
resulting in an explosion of unrepeatable flavours. Travel through several
continents with every mouthful. Here is a taste of some of the items on the
menu: chicken curry, swordfish steak with pepper sauce, prawns or salt cod
“Safari-style” and prawn curry.
The wine list at the Safari
Restaurant, on the other hand, is very Portuguese, with a particular
emphasis on Algarve wines that are true revelations. They unashamedly
admit to serving the “worst caipirinha in Praia da Rocha”. And they’re right!
Because having drunk one, it’s impossible not to order another. And the same is
true of the many other energising and original cocktails that characterise the
Safari’s bar, where you can accompany your drink with a selection of tasty
tapas.
Here, you simply have to round off your
meal with one of the amazing home-made sweets. After all, how could you resist
the apple or chocolate tart, the lemon mousse or the most recent star on this
catwalk of temptations – the drunken pears! Discover the flavours and the personality
that make the Safari a unique restaurant in Praia da Rocha.
Location of Restaurant Safari
Praia da Rocha
There are two entrances: one via the main road running through Praia da Rocha,
called Av. Tomás Cabreira; and the other from the cliff, since the restaurant
faces the sea in a location that is another of Praia da Rocha’s viewpoints.
