The Mar e Sol Restaurant was opened in 1976 on the sands of Praia da Rocha by a couple who had returned to Portugal from Angola. He was originally from the Alentejo and she was from the Beira region, a bit farther north, and they decided to open their restaurant in the “hottest corner of Portugal”.
Today, the Mar e Sol Restaurant extends a warm and friendly welcome in a simple and relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by the wonderful sea views.
In defence of the local producers and businesses, Algarve produce takes pride of place in the kitchen. The fish is bought fresh every day from Portimão Municipal Market, as are all the fruit and vegetables.
