The Alvor Church of Mercy is one of the most charming churches one can visit in the municipality of Portimão. The Church of Mercy, which has stood in the centre of Alvor since the mid-17th century, may be small in size, but its charm is immense and it is an important part of the culture and heritage of Portimão.
It has magnificent details, like the pulpit on the wall on the left side, its altar, marked by an extreme simplicity and the fantastic stained glass windows depicting the miracle of transforming bread into roses by the Saint Queen, St. Isabel of Portugal, who is the patron saint of the church.
