The ancient Chapel of São José is located next to the old Portimão Bridge, and was built in the 17th century. For many years, it was the venue for masses in honour of St. Joseph, the patron saint of naval carpenters who worked in the nearby shipyards. Inside there are traces of baroque. The tiling highlights the gilded wooden frame with the image of Christ on the cross.

Closed to the public. Only open for celebrations of the Eucharist. Sundays at 5 pm
