On this walk from Praia dos Três Irmãos to Alvor, you can admire the myriad blues of the sea and observe the gently undulating dune systems backing the beaches.
As you walk along beside the sea, use your binoculars to scan the immensity of the ocean and try to spot northern gannets (in winter), shearwaters (in summer) or even dolphins playfully leaping out of the water.
When you reach the far end of Alvor Beach, take a look at the rocks that form the breakwater. At low tide you can see lots of crabs feeding here, or mussels, whelks and limpets, clinging to the rocks and waiting for the sea level to rise again at high tide.
On the way back, take the opportunity to discover some of the species that live in the dunes and marshes. But please stay on the footpaths and walkways on this nature walk in the Portimão region and avoid walking on the dunes. The ecosystem is very fragile and people treading on the vegetation can very quickly destroy a habitat that takes years to form.
